Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is an essential part and key enabler of the Internet of Things (IoT), where hundreds or thousands of little smart detection or ascendency nodes are interconnected to transmit perception/monitoring selective information or command instructions. In order to implement perception/monitoring or restraint services of process at a large scale with seamless connection to the Internet, IPv6 would be the best solution due to its many advantages including its highly scalable address scheme, stronger surety, and full Internet submission. Therefore, IPv6 Over WSN is getting more and more enquiry and growth (R&D) aid from both manufacture and academia.

TIPoT development kit

The TIPoT development kit offers a very efficacious, flexile, and low-cost development political platform, including an end-to-end application framework, for the experimental inquiry of TCP/IPv6 over IEEE 802.15.4 WSN, as well as paradigm development of various products and practical applications for WSN or IoT.  It allows bookmen, teachers, inquiryers, hobbyists, makers, product developers and entrepreneurs to enquiry, develop and evaluate innovative application programs or engineerings for low-power, low bandwidth ad-hoc wireless sensor/actuator meshworks with full TCP/IPv6 internetworking. Users can connect their own sensors, add more nodes, and develop or evaluate the functionality of their devices/application programs that are built on IPv6 over WSN.

TIPoT development kit

TIPoT development kit has been adopted in graduate student thesis research projects at the University of Ottawa, Canada, and computer engineering project at the Algonquin College, Canada. Large scale testbed deployments are being planned at the University of Ottawa and University of Montreal. In increase, TIPoT outfits are being adopted for product prototyping or establishing testbeds for quite a few applications, including smart irrigation, precision agriculture and building structural monitoring, in a number of research/engineering innovations and hi-tech companies in Asia, North America, Africa and Europe.

Inspired by the opened source initiative and to offer low-cost solution with non-constrained R&D tractableness, the TIPoT platform is developed based on free receptive source software system, with the following notable features:
